Tirupati Laddu row: Karthi apologies to Pawan Kalyan for unintended misunderstanding. (X)
The controversy surrounding Tirupati laddu has further escalated with Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan weighing in on the matter.
At a recent pre-release event for Karthi’s upcoming film Sathyam Sundaram, Karthi was asked to comment on the Tirupati laddu issue. His response, suggesting that the topic should be set aside due to its sensitivity, drew criticism from Pawan Kalyan.
The deputy chief minister, visibly upset, responded sternly: “People are making fun of Laddu. Don’t you ever dare say such things. I respect you as actors, but when it comes to Sanatana Dharma, you have to think a hundred times before saying a word.”
In response to this, Karthi apologised to Pawan Kalyan for the unintended misunderstanding caused as regards the Tirupati Laddu controversy.
He wrote on his X handle: “Dear @PawanKalyan sir, with deep respects to you, I apologize for any unintended misunderstanding caused. As a humble devotee of Lord Venkateswara, I always hold our traditions dear. Best regards.”

Earlier, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan expressed his deep concern over the recent reports that Tirupati laddu contained animal fat and fish oil, which stirred up a social media storm. However, he welcomed the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the issue.
He even took a penance ritual as an atonement after reports surfaced that adulterated ghee was used in the preparation of the sacred laddu prasadam at the Tirumala temple. As part of the ritual, he visited the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Temple in Vijayawada to offer special prayers on Tuesday, 24 September.
Further, Pawan Kalyan will visit Tirupati on 1 October and end his penance ritual in Tirumala the next day. From Tirupati, he will proceed to Tirumala on foot via the Alipiri route.
